Fundamentals of Business Economics (BA1):
BA1 covers the operating context of business. It focuses on how competition, financial markets and government economic policy effects an organisation. It gives students an understanding of the areas of economic activity relevant to an organisations decisions and the techniques that can be used in this decision making process.
Fundamentals of Management Accounting (BA2):
BA2 covers the knowledge and techniques that are the basis on management accounting. It identifies how the management accountant(both commercial and in the public sector) fits within an organisation and the role of CIMA. It includes the identification and classification on costs and how they provide the basis for the techniques used to plan, control and make decisions. It also includes how the performance of organisations can be reported and analysed through budgetary controls and the calculation of variances.
Fundamentals of Financial Accounting (BA3):
BA3 focuses on the preparation of financial statements for single entities. It includes a basic introduction to measuring financial performance through the use of ratios. It considers the conceptual and regulatory framework and identifies the role of legislation and accounting standards.The application of controls for accountant systems and the nature of errors is also covered by the syllabus.
Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate and Legal Governance (BA4):
BA4 considers the professional standards that need to be demonstrated. This includes the role of Ethics and Ethical conflict within commercial organisations. It identifies the nature of ethical dilemmas and the rules around confidentiality, integrity and objectivity. It considers the role of corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and audit. It also includes the legal and administrative framework.
Organizational Management (E1):
The key focus of E1 is the structuring of organisations. Three important aspects are covered in this syllabus; the organisations structure and the principles behind the operational functions of the organisation, how the organisations managed and how to ensure effective interactions within the organisation's structure. These three aspects are vital in delivering organisational strategy.
Management Accounting (P1):
P1 focuses on the budgeting process as it is vital in executing the organisation’s strategy. They emphasis on the importance of the role of costs and the drivers of costs in the production, analysis and use of information in decision making. This will help build skills and knowledge on how to analyse information on costs, volumes and prices in order to make short term decisions on products and services. You will understand the role of risk in these decisions.
Financial Reporting and Taxation (F1):
F1 focuses on the regulation and preparation of financial statements and how these statements will be used within an organisation, while conforming to the international financial reporting standards. They also give importance to sourcing and managing cash and working capital. For any organisation to be successful or to survive they require this basic knowledge of the principles and application of businesses taxation.
Operational Case Study (OCS):
Operational Case Study is the analysis of a fictional company in an industry and the focus point of the students are operations, marketing, finance and performance with minimal leadership and integration. At this level, we draw concepts from E1-P1-F1 and prove the evaluator our sufficient hold on all these 3 areas as we apply the knowledge practically in real life scenarios.
Project and Relationship Management (E2):
The E2 syllabus shows an internal and external viewpoint of an organisation giving you a deeper understanding of the structure of an organisation. Here we focus on the concept of strategy, where we identify how the organisation’s strategy can be implemented through its people, projects, processes and relationships.
Advanced Management Accounting (P2):
Here you will gain a deeper insight in into costs and the drivers of costs, which will build your knowledge and provide you with the skills needed to analyse, plan and manage costs. This will support the implementation of the organisational strategy.Using short term budgets and in the content of longer term strategies, it will demonstrate how to control and manage the business performance. It will help in the manage-met of risks related to the decisions made within an organisation
Advanced Financial Reporting (F2):
F2 includes the sourcing of the long-term finance necessary to fund organisations. Capital investment is important within this area. It features the complexity of group accounting and the rules that govern many areas of the financial statements while also emphasizing the importance of taking an analytical approach. By examining these statements it allows you to reach conclusions on the organisation’s performance relative to other organisations.
Management Case Study (MCS):
Management Case Study is focusing on any industry but the candidate is assumed to be in Middle Management and he has not only to prove sufficient grasp of E2-P2-F2 but also Leadership skills to motivate and control the junior Management, as well as negotiations with senior management. Advanced levels of challenges call for more advanced thinking in terms of Enterprise, Performance and Finance.
Strategic Management (E3):
This syllabus provides an insight on how organisations successfully implement their strategies by aligning four key areas of their business- people, processes, projects and relationships. E3 also focuses on developing the capabilities of strategic leaders of organisations which enables them to develop a vision and direction for the business.
Risk Management (P3):
P3 focuses on the different types of risks in the implementation of a strategy within an organisation. It identifies methods to manage those risks through processes, techniques and internal control systems. Risks associated with cash flows and capital investment decisions are specifically covered.
Financial Strategy (F3):
The F3 syllabus focuses on how the financial strategy is developed in an organisational strategy. It also creates new skills that allow you to assess the financial requirements of organisations and evaluate alternative sources of finance. It helps build skills required to value investment opportunities such as mergers, acquisitions and divestment.
Strategic Case Study (SCS):
At the Strategic Level, the candidate is assumed to be the CFO and he/she reports directly to the Board on special projects, all of which includes strategy, risk management and advanced finance. Leadership and integration skills are critical here because the entire organization is depending on our clarity of insight.
